I wanted to share this difficult news with you all, as many of you have had the opportunity to meet my beautiful mom while she helped me sell tea at farmers markets and festivals. Earlier this year she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and last weekend Kathleen passed away. It is hard to process that just in December she was sitting at my booth with me, selling tea for the Christmas season. Even a few weeks before she died, she was at my house sticking labels on tea packages. My mom was my biggest fan and supporter in nearly everything I did, and the tea farm was no exception. She was always coming up with new ideas for the farm, or marketing strategies for tea sales. I could not have had a more faithful, loving, or dedicated mom.
I had many endearing nicknames for her (one of her favorites was my “Trophy Mom”)—–but at my tea booth, she was my Market Mama.

I’m so sorry. I met your mom the first time I met you at your first Pawpaw fest. What a cruel and unfair world this can be. I’m so glad that you had your mom along for the ride; her pride in you was obvious. May you blend a tea in her honor and memory and have her live on through your nurturing of the land. I’m so sorry to hear this. Losing your mom is a very tough experience. I lost mine in 2005. When I remember her, she still brings me joy. I hope your mom brings you joy in the years ahead – it sounds like she was very special.

Dear Caroline, I am so very sad at learning of your mother Kathleens very recent passing. She helped my husband and me (together with your Grandmother Pat) immensely with the Mealtrain at church when we were unable to cook for ourselves several years ago. A time which I will always remember with much gratitude!
May your happy memories of your mother sustain you during this very sad time both for you, Caroline, and for all of us who knew your mother.
