What is Wild Ones? It is a nationwide non-profit that focuses on bringing people together in restoring native plants to our landscapes! Ohio has a handful of active chapters, including in Columbus, Dayton, Cincinnati, Cleveland, and most recently—-Marietta/Parkersburg! A gardening friend of mine has just started up our local Marietta chapter of Wild Ones, and their first meeting is next week! I will definitely be there!
There will be two meeting location options, depending on whether you are closer to Marietta or Parkersburg. I anticipate that this will be a great opportunity for those who are interested in planting more native species in their garden, and an awesome way to make new friends! And if you are wondering what the personal advantage is to planting native species in your yard, consider this—–native species means more butterflies in your life and less yard maintenance!
Not in the Marietta area, or even Ohio? Check out Wild Ones’ chapter locations across the country here!
